Today, Lorde shared her final promotional single and first track off Virgin, "Hammer". The song was co-written by her and Jim E-Stack, one of the forthcoming album's main producers. Buddy Ross is also credited as a producer for "Hammer".

The New Zealand singer-songwriter described the new track as "an ode to city life and horniness tbh," per her social media. "There's a heat in the pavement, my mercury's raising," the first lines go. "Don't know if it's love or ovulation." These reflections about love and sexuality are entertwined with the artist's experience in New York City, referencing piercing her ears on Canal Street.

In September, Lorde will embark on the Ultrasound world tour, bringing a whole cast of artists on the road. Her main guest acts will be Blood Orange (featured on Virgin), The Japanese House, and Nilüfer Yanya. Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack, and Oklou will also perform as secondary support.
