It's been nearly four years since Lorde has released new material, with the deluxe version of Solar Power released in November of 2021. At long last, though, we have a tease of what's to come from the acclaimed kiwi pop star.

Lorde has signaled new music on the horizon by wiping her website and all socials. Additionally, the "Royals" singer has made her first post on TikTok with a snippet of new music. The video features her pacing around Washington Square Park in NYC. The lyrics in the snippet read, “Since I was 17/I gave you everything/Now we wake from a dream/Well baby, what was that?” 

The production of the snippet harkens back to the garish, pulsating synths found on her sophomore record Melodrama, a hint of a potential return to form following the stripped-back acoustic stylings of Solar Power.
