Earlier today, Lizzo announced that she will release her fifth studio album Love In Real Life later this year via Nice Life Recording Company/Atlantic Records. The popstar returned with the record's lead single, also caled "Love In Real Life", her first piece of new music since her 2022 record Special.
The premiere of "Love In Real Life" came with an 80's-inspired music video directed by Colin Tilley. Watch/listen to the new single below:
On streaming platforms, "Love In Real Life" follows a 22-second spoken-word track titled "Everything Was So Much Simpler..." This introductory song can be heard in the single's official music video.
On February 13, Lizzo hinted at the beginning of a new album cycle with a farewell post to Special on her Instagram. "This album was my strut back into society after a hard 2020 & 2021," she wrote. "I wanted to help people turn up the music, turn down the lights and get a feeling they’ll be alright. I wanted to remind people of how they may be broken but still perfect in their own way."
The chart-topping album went on to receive platinum status and several Grammy nominations, including for Album Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Song Of The Year ("About Damn Time"), and Best Pop Solo Performance ("About Damn Time"). That single won the Grammy for 2022's Record Of The Year.
There is no official release date for Love In Real Life, nor an official tracklist yet, according to Line Of Best Fit.
To promote the new record, Lizzo will be performing three intimate performances in select venues across New York, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis in March. Tickets are available for presale now on Lizzo's official website, but general sale will begin March 6 at 10 am local time, according to Rolling Stone.
