Today, Les Louanges, the funk rock project of Québécois artist Vincent Roberge, shared "La journée va être chaude", the third single off the upcoming record, Alouette!, out April 10 via Bonsound.
The new track — heavy on the bass and kick drum as it pulses to a steady groove — scores the messiness of life to a danceable beat, playing on the themes expressed by previous singles, "GODDAMN!" and "Je confirme ma présence".
"La journée va être chaude" comes with a fiery new music video. Watch/listen to the new single below:
"While recording Alouette!, I wanted to convey a sense of energy, to give the impression that the album is a living, breathing, screaming beast," comments Roberge, calling this new song the embodiment of that. "It’s like the kick is the heart; the bass is the veins; and the guitar is the teeth. Is the song recorded live, or is it produced with a computer? How many people are there shouting at the same time? The answer lies somewhere in the middle of all that…"
Contrasting the song's existential lyrics, the artist drew upon his musical inspirations — Prince, Sly and the Family Stone, and Parliament-Funkadelic — to create its cheerful, upbeat tone.
