After all, LCD Soundsystem might not have a new album by Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025. According to the festival’s press release, the band was believed to be working on a new album to be released in time for the festival. “The influential band led by James Murphy will come back to the festival (and with a new album!),” the Primavera organizers wrote.

Two days after the announcement and numerous media outlets reported the news, festival representatives have taken back the claim in a new statement:

“James Murphy’s band will not present a new album at Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025 but will return to the festival welcomed as a major headliner act after their new song X-Ray Eyes and of course with their impressive and influential collection of anthems.”

While this doesn’t completely rule out the possibility that the dance-rock outfit is working on new music material or an LP, it does lower any expectations fans had before.

The band recently premiered a new song called “X-Ray Eyes”, – their first since "new body rhumba" for the film White Noise, two years ago – available via the show Soup to Nuts w/ Anu, on NTS Radio. Now, you can listen to the track on their website.

The Murphy-led group is about to kick off their Los Angeles residency next week, and have another one coming up in New York.
