Laufey has signed with Verve Records and Interscope Records, both part of Universal Music Group (UMG). The deal, first reported by Variety, ends a six-year run as an independent artist. She is currently at work on new music, though no details of her next release have been announced.

Laufey first signed with AWAL in April 2022 and extended that deal in 2023. She has released three studio albums: 2022’s Everything I Know About Love, 2023’s Bewitched, and A Matter of Time, which arrived August 22, 2025 via Vingolf Recordings and AWAL. The most recent album was preceded by four singles: "Silver Lining,” “Tough Luck,” “Lover Girl,” and “Snow White” and reunited her with co-producer Spencer Stewart, who worked on her first two records, alongside Aaron Dessner. It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Jazz Albums chart. Her catalog has also drawn more than seven billion combined global streams.

Both of Laufey’s Grammy Awards came in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category: first for Bewitched in 2024, which made her the youngest artist to win the category; and again for A Matter of Time at the 68th annual Grammy Awards in February. Accepting the second award, she used her speech to argue against cuts to arts funding, saying, “I owe everything to my music education, to my arts education.”

She has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the China Philharmonic Orchestra, and last year played two nights each at Madison Square Garden and Crypto.com Arena on a sold-out North American run. In July, she signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation across all arenas.

Outside of music, Laufey was named one of Time’s Women of the Year in 2025, was honored as a Knight by the president of Iceland, and saw her first children’s book, Mei Mei the Bunny, published by Penguin Random House in April and reach the New York Times bestseller list.

In 2025, she launched the Laufey Foundation, which helps young musicians access youth orchestra programs, initially supporting the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA program, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, and Carnegie Hall’s NYO2 and NYO Jazz. One dollar from each ticket sold on the A Matter of Time Tour goes to the foundation.

Last month, Laufey held the fourth annual A Very Laufey Day, which brought events to 75 cities across more than 25 countries, with proceeds from brand collaborations and merchandise sales going to the foundation.
