Kneecap address Mo Chara’s terrorism charges in new song “No Comment”

The Irish rap trio Kneecap released new single “No Comment” earlier today, addressing their ongoing struggles with the British government investigation of member Mo Chara for terrorism charges. The song, a collaboration with British DJ Sub Focus, is “all about getting harassed by the British state,” they said in a statement.

Listen to “No Comment” below:

Mo Chara was charged with violating the UK Terrorism Act this past May. After several court appearances throughout the Fall, his case was dismissed in September, with the ruling that the 2023 incident fell outside the statute of limitations.

In regards to the policing, protest restrictions, festival cancelations, and visa revocations, Kneecap said, “Us Irish are well used to it, been happening for centuries. Was a pleasure to work with Sub Focus on this, the man is a legend.”

The song also begins with the band’s main focus of their outspoken political protest, referencing their unceasing support for the freedom of Palestine. They sing in the first verse:

“It’s certain that we’re in the way / In the West Bank and in Gaza / We’ve made an example of you, so silence Mo Chara / That won’t ever happen, don’t worry I’m telling ya.”
