With 6 weeks to go until her new album Dreamstate arrives 18 October via Dirty Hit’s electronic offshoot dh2, techno-pop fusionist Kelly Lee Owens has today shared a third preview track, “Higher”. Writing on Instagram, the Welsh musician and producer describes the song as “another facet of Dreamstate – another taste of the feeling within the album.”
As the title suggests, Owens’ fourth album is “a monument to dreaming,” and not just in the literal sense. Owens hopes that the record will inspire people to aim as high as they can in their ambitions, especially for those who come from the kind of world that she grew up in. As she says in the album bio:
“When you come from a working class background or you don’t have any help and support, it’s more important than ever to dream about what’s possible for yourself. Because it’s not going to get handed to you—it just isn’t. Give yourself permission to dream bigger.”
