Katrina Ford (formerly of Celebration) releases new single "Dundalk Dungeon"

Former Celebration bassist and vocalist Katrina Ford has released a brand new single called "Dundalk Dungeon". It's Ford's first new music since 2022's debut solo EP, and it also arrives with a music video. Watch/listen below.

The song's name is inspired by the Dundalk Terminal in Baltimore, where Ford is based. Of the new single, Ford says:

"This song was inspired by the view of the Harbor from 395. It was a clear day and seeing at the time the Key Bridge and Dundalk Terminal. I feel like this song has an energetic yet sleepy feeling.

We wrote this song in July 2023. Tragically on March 26th 2024, six construction workers were killed when a container ship struck the Key Bridge and it collapsed. This is lighthearted though, inspired by the beauty and the grime of Baltimore. In Dundalk Dungeon, the Baltimore harbor's geography is personified as a gambler in an illegal establishment, a secret bar known as The Dungeon. Now its meaning is more nuanced, with the loss."

Ford rose to prominence as the lead singer and bassist of the Baltimore band Celebration (whose last album was 2017's Wounded Healer). In the 2000s, Ford was a guest vocalist on several records, and had a close relationship with TV On the Radio. Ford sang backup on the band's first four releases, including landmarks like Return to Cookie Mountain and Dear Science. In turn, TotR's Kyp Malone sang backup on the Celebration song "Hands Off My Gold" on 2007's The Modern Tribe, which TotR's Dave Sitek also produced.
