Karol G, Bad Bunny, and Kali Uchis among 2024 Latin Grammy nominations

On Tuesday, the Latin Recording Academy revealed its 25th Annual Latin Grammy Awards nominees. Leading the list is Mexican-American songwriter and producer Edgar Barrera with nine nominations, including for Songwriter of the Year, Producer of the Year, and Song of the Year, for which he’s a co-writer of three hits nominated in the category—Karol G’s “Mi Ex Tenía Razón”, Shakira and Grupo Frontera’s “(Entre Paréntesis)”, and Maluma and Carín León’s “Según Quién”.

Global artists Karol G and Bad Bunny are up for eight nominations each. The Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) singer is once again nominated for Album of the Year after winning the award last year. And Bad Bunny’s song "Monaco" is in the running for Record of the Year while his song “Un Preview” is nominated for Best Reggaeton Performance.

Other artists nominated this year include Kali Uchis with four nominations for her Spanish album Orquídeas, Mon Laferte in the running for Album of the Year for Autopoiética, Brazilian singer Anitta with two nominations, and Devonté Hynes with his first Latin Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Nathy Peluso in their song “El Día Que Perdí Mi Juventud”.

The Latin Recording Academy is also introducing two new categories this year: Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album and Best Latin Electronic Music Performance. The former creates an opportunity for the thriving corridos tumbados genre, a mix of regional Mexican and urban music, to see more award representation. Nominated for the inaugural category are Peso Pluma, DannyLux, Grupo Frontera, Natanael Cano, Michelle Maciel, and Carín León. Among the nominees for Best Latin Electronic Music Performance is Tiësto’s remix of Shakira and Bizarrap’s track “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”.

This year, the Latin Grammys will take place on November 14 in Miami—as opposed to last year’s controversial ceremony location in Spain. Viewers can watch the live programming on Univision, Galavisión, or streaming on ViX.
