Williamson also announced a 2027 headline tour, with stops including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston. Tickets will go on sale Friday. Dates are down below.

“Hum of the City” is built around acoustic guitar and fiddle, and describes an experience Williamson had checking into the same hotel room she’d stayed in years earlier, during a different period of her life, just before a major breakup. The song imagines a conversation with the hotel’s bartender. Williamson said the song reflects her own back-and-forth relationship with the idea of home, caught between city life and a more rural pace.

A Mile South of Heaven was produced by Shooter Jennings at Sunset Sound in Hollywood and features pedal steel, fiddle, and banjo throughout. Williamson wrote the album between Los Angeles and Marfa, Texas, where she splits her time, and the record’s 12 songs touch on success, home, relationships, grief, and identity.

She’ll play an album release show at The Continental Club in Austin on October 8, following performances this week at ACL Live with Brandon Flowers and at Austin City Limits Festival.
