Ahead of her new album's release this Friday, Jay Som (aka Melina Duterte) has shared its fifth and final single: "Past Lives". Featuring none other than Hayley Williams, the two weave their vocals together for a hazy duet. The new track will appear on Belong, Duterte's first album under the Jay Som name since 2019.
Listen to "Past Lives" here:
Jay Som first met Williams in 2018 when she opened for Paramore's Hard Times promotional tour. Seven years later, the two reunited in Nashville with producer Steph Marziano to write and record a track together.
"It’s a dream come true to have Hayley sing on my first feature on an album before the recording of 'Float' [with Jim Adkins], I still can’t believe it happened," says Duterte via press release. "She’s one of the kindest artists out there and she graciously accepts and uplifts the people around her. We’re all so lucky to witness her talent and live on the same timeline as her."
The new single will be the final release before Belong, Jay Som's forthcoming record, comes out this Friday, October 10 via Polyvinyl Recording Co.
