Jack White bashes Donald Trump and Elon Musk in newly surfaced clips of "Corporation"

Last month, Jack White surprised fans at his February 18 concert in Boston with a new version of "Corporation," a scathing, semi-improvised critique of the Donald Trump presidency from his 2018 record Boarding House Reach. The new version includes a much-needed update now that Trump is back in office, and in a newly surfaced clip, White does not hold back.

Watch the performance below:

While White hurls a new insult at Trump, calling him a "f*****g bloated asshole orange f*****g gorilla" who's also "failed at every business he's ever ran," most of the changes to "Corporation" aim directly at Elon Musk, who somehow has a lot of control over the US government through the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) without any real political legitimacy. "I’m thinking about not being elected," Jack White quips, "never holding a public office, never serving one day of military service, but somehow having the authority to control parts of the U.S. Government. Who’s with me?!”

In another standout lyric, White sings, "I’m thinking about not being properly vetted by the Supreme Court or Congress, just doing whatever the hell I want," which refers to Musk's chaotic first months as leader of DOGE.

In a 2018 profile with The Sun, Jack White explained the meaning behind "Corporation," saying, "“I thought it would be funny for someone on the street to be walking and talking to his friends and saying, ‘Hey, let’s start a corporation!'" He elaborated,

"I just walked out there and started singing whatever came in to my head and, shockingly, the first think I thought of was Donald Trump! He symbolises everything that’s bad right now, especially in America. ‘Corporation’ may be a household word in the house he grew up in, whereas in the houses most Americans grew up, that’s a pipe dream. You can’t just start a corporation."
