Iceage announce 'For Love of Grace & the Hereafter,’ share new single

After making their return with "Star" last month, the Danish alt rockers Iceage are set to release their upcoming record, For Love of Grace & Hereafter, on May 29 via Mexican Summer. The band also shared their second single, ”Ember.”

The new song, which is also the first on the upcoming album, comes with a music video directed by both the band and Ira Rønnenfelt. Watch/listen to it below:

Going back to the studio where they recorded their 2014 album, Plowing Into the Field of Love, Iceage wrote and recorded For Love of Grace & Hereafter at Silence Studio, hoping to make a record that channels the current lightning pace of the band, as well as their group dynamic first established as teenagers. “The songs needed to be immediate, urgent, raw, and fast,” reveals front man Elias Rønnenfelt. “We wanted to try to shed any unnecessary weight. Catching outlets of energy is what excites us the most.”

The album’s main adjective is fun; the lyrics are poppy and straightforward, the guitars are jangly and instinctual, and the overall tone falls fully into the throes of love, romantic or familial. “Ember,” swirling around in rushing punk guitars and twinkling glockenspiels, properly introduces the listener to this new, almost magical world.
