The London experimental collective HMLTD are back today with "Umami," their latest single from their upcoming album FANGS, which comes out the 23rd via Lucky Number. Mixed by Nicos Kennedy (Machine Girl, femtanyl), the new track takes the band further into the world of bloghouse, EDM, and underground dance music. Aside from the new music, the four-piece share new dates for upcoming performances.
"Umami" comes with a music video directed by HMLTD co-founder Henry Spychalski. Watch/listen to the new single below:
"'Umami' is the closest thing we've ever written to a club track," say HMLTD via press release. It draws from "eurotrash," sleazepop, and bloghouse electronic music of the early 2010s, channeling the dark electricity of acts like Crystal Castles, Uffie, and Justice for an intense musing on the club space as a whole. "It is at once a celebration of the club as a conceptual meta-space for dionysian excess and expenditure, and an indictment of the club in its modern form, where it could not be further from this ideal," the band note.
HMLTD also just announced a batch of new dates for performances next year. Beginning in February, they'll be traveling to cities across the UK to promote FANGS. "After going into hermit mode and not touring The Worm," they wrote on Instagram, "we now intend to play live as much as possible, and are hard at work to make these coming live shows our best ever." Tickets for the 2026 shows are available now.
