It's been three years since London was overtaken by a giant worm; now, the cult London art punk collective HMLTD are returning to Earth as vampires in their brand new single, "Blitzkreig." The band also announce a new lineup, replacing former members with new additions Theo Spark and Andrei Martynchyk.

Mixed by Nicos Kennedy (Machine Girl, Femtanyl), the new track abrasively jerks HMLTD away from their art punk beginnings in 2020's West of Eden and their avant-garde chamber rock adventures in 2023's The Worm. Raving, instead, to a high-intensity techno beat, the band argue it falls under a new concept they dub "GÖTHERDÄMMERUNG," or "ÜberGöth." In layman's terms, it's the sound of vampires, witches, ghouls, and demons haunting German night clubs, wreaking havoc on a world overwrought by "techno-capital acceleration."

"'Blitzkrieg' is our first single in three years, and a reinstatement of intent and the values which defined our early manifesto," says the band in a press release. "It is a return to radical experimentation, violent confrontation, and music as revolt."

Aside from the new single, the band also have announced that their lineup has changed again, including the addition of Spark and Martynchyk. Pianist and producer Seth "Shank" Evans (black midi, Geordie Greep, My New Band Believe) — who replaced keyboardist Zac Cazes in 2019 — and original drummer Achilleas Sarantaris are no longer credited members of HMLTD. Bassist Nico Mohnblatt has also left.

HMLTD have a show at London's Club Cheek on October 26 (fitting for an All Hallow's Eve pregame!), and they'll announce more dates soon.
