Central Park will be a lot quieter than expected this weekend.

Global Citizen Festival has canceled its 2026 edition as a powerful Nor’easter approaches New York City, wiping out a Saturday lineup that included Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, Victoria Monét, YEONJUN, YOSHIKI, and Alicia Keys & Friends. Hugh Jackman was set to host the annual event on the Great Lawn.

Organizers made the call after consulting with New York City and NYC Parks, saying they spent the week considering other options before determining that the forecast made safely producing the festival impossible.

“Safety has to come first. This is the first time in 14 years we’ve had to cancel,” Global Citizen said. “We have spent this week working through countless contingencies, which were ultimately not possible, and cancelling is a decision we have not taken lightly.”

New York City officials are expecting 2 to 3 inches of rain, wind gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph, and coastal flooding as the storm moves through the region.

Global Citizen is far from the only music event losing its weekend to the weather. All Things Go NYC canceled its entire three-day run at Forest Hills Stadium. The festival was set to feature artists including Ethel Cain, Carly Rae Jepsen, Zara Larsson, Lola Young, Brandi Carlile, and MUNA.

The storm is disrupting concerts across the East Coast, including Maryland’s Oceans Calling Festival and Ed Sheeran’s Gillette Stadium concerts in Massachusetts.
