Ex-Maroon 5 bassist accused of assault and sexting teenage girls by his wife

Mickey Madden, the former bassist for Maroon 5, is being accused of domestic abuse and sending sexually explicit messages to underage girls by his wife, Catherine Blair Bowman. She claims that a teenage girl contacted her directly to report that Madden had been sexting her. When Bowman confronted Madden about the messages, she says he became enraged.

In her words:

"When he denied it, I asked him to hand me his phone. He would not hand me his phone, but I could see that he was quickly deleting the evidence from his phone.”

Catherine then grabbed Micky’s phone from him and ran out of the house. He pursued her.

“He put both his arms around my body around my abdomen and arms to restrain me. He then slammed my body against the marble kitchen counter. I felt pain in my hip and waist area. He shoved me to the ground and was out of his mind. I landed on my knees. He kept screaming for me to give him the phone. He appeared literally insane to me. I had never seen such uncontrollable anger and a completely different person. He physically abused me. Extreme emotional harm. I'm now terrified of him.”

The alleged incident took place on May 14. Since then, Catherine has filed for and been granted a restraining order. Mickey is currently in a rehabilitation facility. As part of her filing, Catherine submitted screenshots of text messages between the two, including one in which Mickey allegedly referred to the underage sexting as "A private and fake harmless fantasy" and that it had "No bearing on real life at all."

Catherine responded to the alleged text message with:

"Mickey. I do not know the man who hires 18 year old prostitutes to text them about wanting to be their stepdad and rape them while we are on our honeymoon."

To which Mickey allegedly responds with an apology text:

"I am beyond sorry for my actions and for engaging in any form of expression of those impulses..it's all completely unacceptable. but I have to draw the line at that characterization of what I did ..This was entirely relegated to text..It's not excusable by any means but I have to make it clear that I would never act on any of that consensual fantasy talk."

Mickey had previously left Maroon 5 following a separate alleged domestic violence charge in 2020.
