Today, the Colombian electronic pop artist Ela Minus released the QQQQ (Remixes) EP via Domino. The collection — featuring an "Apocalypto" mix, an extended club edit, and a live version — reimagines the original single featured on her sophomore record, DÍA, which came out January 17.
Nick Léon (Rosalía, Denzel Curry, Emperess Of, Erika de Casier) produced the new versions alongside Minus.
Watch/listen to Léon's "Apocalypto" mix below:
"Nick’s remixes feel like a collaboration," says Minus via press release. "It's the first time I've had so much input on a remix of my music." S
he continued to say that the two repeatedly sent versions back and forth, which eventually resulted in two remixes they liked: "a straight-on extended club mix (which the original was always calling for)," she says, "and then a beat-less version which we called 'Apocalypto remix'." Minus then produced a live recording of "QQQQ" and added it to the EP.
Minus and Léon previously worked together on the Florida producer's debut album, A Tropical Entropy, which came out June 27 via TraTraTrax. She appears on "Ghost Orchid", the lead single.
Ela Minus also shared new dates for her promotional tour, which follows a South American and European leg and a handful of festival appearances. She will be traveling to New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles later this fall before ending the tour in Venezuela and Colombia (venues TBA).
