With the indefinite postponement of their second album the beltway is burning following a whole lot of mess within their ranks and the loss of their deal with Topshelf Records in February, Ekko Astral's remaining two members have announced the almost immediate release of a live album recorded on their recent West Coast US tour with punk legends mclusky.
Listen to "lil xan goes to washington" below:
Taped at a mortuary-turned-music-venue in San Francisco, fuck this band: live at the chapel should not be seen as a end to the band but as "a means to a new beginning," as the DC punk band write on Bandcamp. Among the eight songs are two tracks intended to feature on the beltway is burning, whenever it arrives, and "stuffing my fingers into a meat grinder," a brand new track written for the mclusky tour.
The album was mixed by the band's guitarist Liam Hughes and mastered by Jeremy Snyder, who drums on the record. All proceeds from the album will be donated evenly between Gender Liberation Movement and No More Dysphoria, the same organisations supported by the Ekko Astral-founded Liberation Weekend, which takes place in DC this coming weekend – albeit without Ekko Astral themselves, who dropped off the lineup last month.
