Canadian rapper Drake is slowly stepping back into the limelight following his feud with Kendrick Lamar, this time embracing an alter ego. His newly announced tour – The Anita Max Win Tour – has announced dates for Australia and New Zealand, his first time back in Australia since his Boy Meets World tour in 2017.
In a surprise appearance on Twitch personality xQc's live stream on 24 November, Drake hints at the upcoming tour: "It's actually funnily enough called the Anita Max Win tour [...] I swear." He continues, saying he is only planning on touring Australia for now. xQc and his chat respond with a customary tidal wave of W's.
Drake first premiered his Anita Max Win persona in December 2023 on a live stream, where he sat poolside in Turks and Caicos, leisurely playing slots on the online casino Stake. There, Drake announced his new character to the stream. Trucker hat in hand, he announces "Ladies with gentle hands, this is my alter ego, Anita Max Wynn," revealing the hat's design to be a cartoon woman, fitted in a pink and yellow outfit and blonde bob. Later he released those same hats to be purchased on his site with an embroidered Stake logo on its side.
The popularity of Anita Max Win (originally spelled Anita Max Wynn) exploded in online circles, particularly with other gambling streamers and internet personalities hoping for their 'max win.' The instagram post announcing the hat featured many popular online gambling streamers and Stake partners, including the aforementioned xQc.
Drake has openly been an affiliate for Stake since 2022. He has the casino tagged on the top of his Instagram, as well as posts featuring his million dollar crypto winnings on Stake bets, ranging from the Superbowl to influencer boxing matches. Despite him being Stake's highest-profile sponsor, there is no mention of Stake in the iconography or poster for the LiveNation tour. The Anita Max Win alter ego is strongly tied to the casino, yet stake is noticably absent.
In his infamously public beef, Kendrick Lamar lambasted Drake for indulging in self-destructive vices. Lamar points out his gambling addiction on "Meet the Grahams", as well as his abuse of drugs and alcohol. Perhaps his feud – and the surprise release of GNX – has Drake reconsidering his public support of an online casino.
Then again, he did name his tour after his degenerate gambling alter ego.
Drake announced that The Anita Max Win Tour tickets will be available next week. More information can be found on his website. The tour includes the following dates:
