Following last month's release of lead single "Darkest Hour", Crack Cloud guitarist and saxophonist Bryce Cloghesy (aka Military Genius) has shared a second track from his upcoming second solo album Scarred for Life, out 1 November via Tin Angel Records subsidiary Unheard of Hope.
Written, recorded, engineered, and produced by Cloghesy himself, he says in a press release that the ten-track album is his way of processing a lifetime spent "working tirelessly for years, white-knuckling life without any tools to process stress or trauma," including a near-death experience he had in 2012 when he fell through a window and lacerated his left arm.
The Joshua Tree-based artist describes the R&B-tinged new single "Window to the Soul" as a song that "reflects on trauma and its after-effects, exploring how the past can distort and reshape the present,” adding:
"Attempting to explain what has happened takes us further away from understanding. Like looking through curved glass, each perspective reshapes and challenges our notion of objective truth. This life is a house of mirrors, and sometimes getting lost is the point. In that moment of desperation, logic is irrelevant. All that is left is feeling."

Cloghesy will mark release week for Scarred for Life with a European tour that kicks off on 3 November in Glasgow, UK, and includes two shows opening for Unheard of Hope labelmate Mabe Fratti.
