Yesterday, the nonprofit organization Omaha Girls Rock hosted a Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes, Desaparecidos, Better Oblivion Community Center) lookalike contest, and Oberst himself showed up for it.
Omaha is Oberst’s hometown, and is where he helped launch Saddle Creek Records in 1993, spearheaded by Mike Mogis and his brother Justin Oberst.
The event was a fundraiser for Omaha Girls Rock, whose mission is “empowering youth, specifically those who identify as female, trans, gender expansive, to find their voice through music education, performance, and creativity.”
A photo from the event posted on Reddit shows Oberst looking thoroughly amused. According to the post, he even handed the winner a bag of his own clothes. It’s unclear who actually won, and honestly, it’s hard to tell from the photo. None of them look exactly like Oberst, but each captured something of the vibe.
What do you think?
