Early last month, Houston's White Oak Music Hall hosted a fundraiser for Attorney General and Republican Senate hopeful Ken Paxton, who is currently locked in a tight race against Democrat James Talarico. Meanwhile, queer punk rockers Meet Me @ The Altar and Leisure Hour played upstairs.

Neither of the bands knew about the venue's double-booking. Leisure Hour vocalist/drummer Raegan Gordon condemned the fundraiser as "lame and stupid and fucking bullshit." And now, as reported Chron's Gwen Howerton, bands big and small have scrambled to switch venues or donate funds from ticket and merch sales to local organizations.

Chanel Beads has moved their show to Bad Astronaut (10/7).

Chat Pile is instead playing two intimate shows at the Secret Group (10/9).

Faetooth moved their August show to Bad Astronaut.

Hermanos Gutierrez have moved their show to 713 Music Hall (10/21).

Mannequin Pussy and Wednesday, who are co-headlining the Bitch Cabal tour, released a joint statement via Instagram. There were no other viable venues to host a 1,400 capacity show. Instead, they're playing White Oak Music Hall's larger outdoor stage.

After discussions, the venue has agreed to donate their facilities fee to the Montrose Center, an LGBTQ+ community center, and Houseton Immigrant Legal Services Collective. The venue has also agreed to drop their merch cuts so the band can raise even more money for their organizations of choice (11/12).

Sweet Pill moved last month's show to Bad Astronaut, but not before calling Paxton a "far-right piece of shit."

Weatherday has moved their show to the Secret Group (10/13).
