Oklahoma City's resident ravagers Chat Pile have released the video for a new song called "Masc". It's the second preview of upcoming album Cool World – out October 11 on The Flenser – after unleashing the menacing "I Am Dog Now" last month.
Listen and watch below:
The somewhat unnerving music video is directed by Stephen Mondics.
“This is our first time collaborating with Stephen and the band is completely blown away with how well he was able to capture the spirit of the song,” bassist Stin said about the collaboration. “As huge movie buffs, it’s also a legitimate dream-come-true to have a music video shot completely on film under our belts.”
"'Masc' is the saddest Chat Pile song since ‘Tenkiller'", according to vocalist Raygun Busch. "Unlike the rest of the album, this song deals with horrors of interpersonal intimacy, yet it is connected with the rest of the record through the overarching theme of oppression, despair and malaise.”
Chat Pile's next show will be a sold out bout at The Bottleneck on September 7, followed by a state-spanning tour starting in November. Today, Chat Pile have also announced an appearance at Tilburg's Roadburn Festival.
Cool World is the follow-up to Chat Pile's 2022 breakthrough LP God's Country. Preorder the album here.
