Earlier today, it was announced that Charli xcx will headline Glastonbury's second stage, and now, Deadline reports she is a top pick to play Jadis, the White Witch, in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Narnia film—though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Charli previously contributed the song "Speed Drive" to Gerwig's 2023 film Barbie, so a more concrete collaboration between the two wouldn’t be a complete shocker. As of now, there have been no indications that Charli will contribute any musical elements to the upcoming Narnia film.
The White Witch, also known as the Snow Queen (which happens to be one of Charli's nicknames), was most recently portrayed by Tilda Swinton in the 2005 film The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. These are undoubtedly tough shoes to fill, but Gerwig must share the vision that many do, as Charli has seen a recent surge in demand for her acting chops.
In the past 12 months, she has been cast in Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist, Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice, and Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex. We’ll have to wait and see if Charli can officially add Narnia to that list.
