After hinting at an exciting collaboration last week, British post-rock group caroline released "Tell Me I Never Knew That", a single featuring none other than Caroline Polachek. A single featuring two Carolines thus fit the theme of the band's bigger announcement: their sophomore record, Caroline 2, will be released on May 30 via Rough Trade.

The band teased their almost destined collaboration last week on April 11, posting a grainy photo of the band taking a selfie with someone who fans (correctly) guessed was Polachek. They then shared today's date (April 15) and a pre-save link for the new track.

When asked about Polachek's feature, caroline (the band) said, "We wrote the opening top line together and straight away we thought ‘this sounds like a melody that Caroline Polachek might sing’ in its hooky-ness," according to Uproxx. "We sort of joked that we’d ask her to sing it but didn’t think it’d actually be on the cards, until about a year later when we sent her the half-finished song and she was up for it!”

The band continued to say that Polachek helped with the layering and vocal improvisations laced throughout the track, and that she brought an "inspiring" energy during the recording sessions.

"Tell Me I Never Knew That" is the second promotional single for the new record. It follows "Total Euphoria", which the band shared last month on March 18.

caroline also announced a brief UK tour that will coincide with the new album's release. Later in September, the band will travel to cities across Europe and Japan to continue the caroline 2 promotional tour.
