Today, pianist and singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby unveiled details on his new album, Indigo Park. The record, a collection of ten songs that focus on and feature significant musical inspirations and partnerships from throughout his career, will be out April 3 via Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers.
Hornsby also shared the title track of the record, which takes place at a seemingly mundane 10th grade party at Indigo Park Pool in Williamsburg, VA that turned formative for his future. Watch/listen to the live performance of the new single below:
Hornsby officially began writing Indigo Park in 2024, he shared via press release. Facing burnout after releasing four albums in five years, he admitted, he wanted to take a moment to look at his career more in-depth, as well as the musical partnerships he had forged. "It's just an old bastard, looking back," he said of Indigo Park. "To be honest, I've found a way, a path to grow old gracefully, with help from some newborn friends of mine."
The new album reunites the artist with his longtime band The Noisemakers, and it features collaborations with Bonnie Raitt and Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend). Two songs on the record — "Alabama" and "Might As Well Be Me, Florinda" — were co-written with Hornsby's fellow Grateful Dead collaborator Rob Hunter before his passing in 2019. The latter also features the legendary Bob Weir, making this one of his last songs before his death this past January.
Guitarist Blake Mills, bassist Pino Palladino, and drummer Chris Dave also join Hornsby as featured session players.
Bruce Hornsby will be taking The Noisemakers and his new record on tour this coming April, following a limited run of solo performances scheduled for this month. Tickets are available now.
