Ahead of the release of her new album Pylon due on September 18th via Dirty Hit / Interscope Records, beabadoobee returns with “Memories,” her new single that sits in the uneasy space between nostalgia and regret.
Listen below:
Even though Bea has called it one of the more upbeat songs on the record musically, “Memories” is about how romanticizing the past can start to crowd out the present. “I’m clinging onto ideas that should make me happy but actually make me feel sad,” says beabadoobee, “because I wish they were just moments I lived in forever.”
“Memories” continues to flesh out Pylon. Much of the record was written alone in hotel rooms, a process that reportedly pulled Bea back toward the way she wrote as a teenager: holed up in her bedroom, feeling, as she puts it, “sad as fuck.”
Pylon is out September 18th via Dirty Hit / Interscope Records.
