The Scottish DJ and producer Barry Can't Swim has dropped "The Person You'd Like To Be", his first piece of new music in 2025. The artist revealed in a press release that this is also "the start of a bigger project to come," as reported by DIY Magazine.

"The Person You'd Like To Be" is Barry Can't Swim's follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2023 debut record, When Will We Land? That record, which pays homage to the electronic music that shaped his sound, went on to receive a BRIT Award nomination for Best Dance Act, and it was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2024.
The breakout DJ will also be headlining London's All Points East Festival (APE) this August, joining other electronic big-names like Shygirl, Confidence Man, and the recently reunited The Maccabees, according to DIY Magazine. According to a post on his Instagram, his one-night performance at APE will be his only London show in 2025.
