Bandcamp launched a TikTok channel

Bandcamp looks to be growing its social presence by launching an official TikTok channel, an expansion of its Bandcamp Daily blog, with a stated goal of "bringing new music to people wherever they choose to discover it."

The team behind this endeavor includes Sarah Tang, a filmmaker and content creator; Olivia McEwan Hill, a designer, illustrator, and content creator; and DIY art enthusiast Carrie McClure. The Bandcamp editorial team and other members from the Bandcamp universe will also make semi-regular appearances on the channel.

So far, the channel has posted a few videos with Sarah Tang covering a three-part list of the Best Albums of Spring 2024 along with her list of Bandcamp Essential Releases, Olivia McEwan-Hill with a video on nostalgic sounds, and Carrie McClure covering UK and Irish new wave dark folk music.

Take a look at a few of the videos below.

The platform shared a longer statement today on their website:

When we launched Bandcamp Daily back in 2016, we set for ourselves a simple and direct mission statement: Bandcamp Daily exists to shine a light on artists all over the world who are using Bandcamp to connect with fans. And almost 10 years later, we’re still excited about finding new ways to introduce people to great new artists.

And so we’re thrilled to announce that today we’re expanding Bandcamp Daily and launching our official TikTok channel, with the goal of bringing new music to people wherever they choose to discover it. We wanted to take a minute to introduce you to some people who are gonna help us do that:

Sarah Tang: Sarah Tang is a filmmaker and content creator in Brooklyn. She builds online communities for brands through her monotone delivery and staggeringly high daily screen-time. Her work has appeared in the New Orleans Film Festival, on World Channel, and TikTok.

Olivia McEwan Hill: Olivia a designer, illustrator, and content creator living in Bristol UK, who’s been working for global creative platform It’s Nice That for two years, producing video content for their platforms. Now, she’s chatting all things music with Bandcamp.

Carrie McClure: Carrie has a deep respect and love for resourceful DIY art in all mediums—she’s worked at music festivals, local bakeries, offices, ice cream trucks, venues, and studios. Lately she’s been focused on writing and media production with an interest in new experimental music.

And in addition to Sarah, Olivia, and Carrie, you can expect to see semi-regular appearances from members of Bandcamp’s editorial team and other folks from around the Bandcamp universe.

So follow us on TikTok—and if you don’t have a TikTok account, today is the perfect day to start.
