May is shaping up to be a big month for actor Jena Malone (The Hunger Games, Love Lies Bleeding). Besides starring alongside Geena Davis and Bill Pullman in the forthcoming Netflix/Duffer Brothers series The Boroughs, which premieres on May 21, the Nevada-born creative has a new "sci-fi/folk" album coming out a couple of weeks earlier, on May 8. Released through her own label There Was An Old Woman Records, Flowers for Men is Malone's first LP under her own name since 2007's Bloodstains for Sailors. Her most recent album with side project The Shoe was released in 2014.

New track "You've Been on My Mind" follows last November's "Create in Your Name" and recent single "Barstow." Talking to Atwood Magazine yesterday, Malone explained that the song began as a poem she wrote at 23, then tried to be a song for The Shoe, until finally aligning to become what we hear today. She also described the track as her "big swing of a love song... written from the perspective of a woman who centered herself and her now pleasure and gets vilified for it."
