20th anniversary edition of Mark Lanegan's 'Bubblegum' released today

The estate of Mark Lanegan – late singer of Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, and accomplished solo artist – has re-released his 2004 album, Bubblegum, in honor of its 20th anniversary. The archive of the Beggars Group record label, Beggars Arkive, worked in collaboration with the Lanegan estate to deliver this expanded reissue.

Besides Lanegan's weary lyrics and husky vocals, Bubblegum features PJ Harvey, members of Queens of the Stone Age, and Guns N' Roses bass-slinger Duff McKagan, along with other world-class rock talent.

The 4-LP deluxe box set version features 40 tracks and a book with "essays by Troy Van Leeuwen, Josh Homme, Chris Goss, Alain Johannes, David Catching, Greg Dulli, Duff McKagan, and Brett Netson, along with studio notes and previously unseen photographs by Steve Gullick," according to the label; a CD version of the deluxe features the musical treasure trove, but the book is a vinyl exclusive. All tracks have been given a fresh remaster, courtesy of Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road.

The Bubblegum XX reissue is available on 2xLP here, while the deluxe version, as of this writing, is sold out.
