1,000 artists release silent protest album against AI

1,000 musicians, including Kate Bush, Damon Albarn, Tori Amos, and Hans Zimmer, have contributed to an album of silence entitled Is This What We Want?

The album arrives as a protest against a new proposal for UK copyright law, which would allow AI companies to use copyrighted work without a license. In running order, the 12 track names spell out "The British Government must not legalise music theft to benefit AI companies." All proceeds from the album will be donated to the UK charity Help Musicians.

Ed Newton-Rex, the English composer that brainstormed the project, said the plan "would not only be disastrous for musicians, but [it] is totally unnecessary."
