The previously mentioned Belgian post-metal act Amenra are back with a new music video for their 13-minute-long piece “A Mon Âme,” taken from their 2012 LP Mass V. Definitely check this album out if you’re looking for a band that can smoothly move through multi-phased compositions that string together droning, shoe-gazey interludes, chugging sludge rock riffs, and bursts of melodic hardcore.

Apparently this type of music makes fellow Belgian and fashion photographer-cum-music video director Willy Vanderperre think about skin. He says this in this Nowness article, although it’s clear enough that he had skin on his mind through the resulting video, which for the course of its 13 minutes features almost exclusively close-up shots of the shirtless musicians burningly performing along to the song. The effect is simultaneously trancey and fierce, which does capture the essence of Amenra, oddly enough. Scope it above and see for yourself.
