A really touching and heartbreaking song from Phosphorescent, combined with an impactful video.
I really dig the vocals here from Matthew Houck, he has the singing voice that is perfect for telling a story. It sounds worn, in a way that makes you believe in what he is singing about. On top of that the song has a really nice synthesizer hum to it that builds with these orchestral strings, very tight production.
The video works with the lyrics of the song a slow build of a woman beat down desperately trying to free herself of the bonds that hold her. Of course there are tons of metaphors here, and the video is very well shot up to the very end with the new found freedom of the girl.
