Deerhoof drops a track from its forthcoming album on Polyvinyl records. The LP’s title: Breakup Song. And this track is kinda wowing me. It’s not my favorite Deerhoof track, but the band has really taken a different direction here. With some horns, piano, and a Latin rhythm section, Deerhoof almost sounds completely reinvented on “the Trouble With Candyhands.” If it weren’t for Satomi Matsuzaki’s playful vocal style, I never would have guessed who put this song together.
Look for this new Deerhoof album on September 4th.
