I first heard “Missing” by Maker a couple of months ago. I liked what the band was doing, but found this specific track to be a little underwhelming. The disco beat and female vocals felt a little played out to me. However, this remix done by Cave Painting is exquisite. Breaking the song down to it’s rawest, and then building on it, really showed me how strong the vocals and lyrics are in this track. Specifically, the repeating of “touch me while I’m young” becomes haunting and incredibly emotive. This is how you do a remix, Cave Painting completely gives this song new life. Kudos.
