From New York via New Zealand, Lips is the solo project of Stephanie Brown. Back in her homeland, she played keyboards in numerous groups, but came to the U.S. in ’07 to make a name for herself as a solo musician.
She’s got an EP that she dropped last year; and while the songs are emotional, the sounds are a little flimsy, too.
On “Everything to Me,” Lips’ music gains the sonic weight necessary to make a serious impact. The chilly keyboards and heartbeat drum machines on this track are complemented with some nice string arrangements delivered by Tash Wong.
The song comes from Lips’ forthcoming album, which she’s set to drop later this year. Stay on the lookout, and hear more music from this project on Bandcamp.
