Hudson Mohawke- "Thunder Bay"

Set for an August 1st release via Warp Recs, here’s a track from Hudson Mohawke’s new EP, Satin Panthers.

Now let me start off by saying Hudson Mohawke is not really for everyone–especially not those who look for the finer, more subtle moments in electronic music. At first listen, Hudson’s straight-to-the-gut approach can come off sounding like a bull in a china shop.

But, for me, there’s something liberating about not having to worry about buying what you’re breaking. “Thunder Bay” essentially lets arms flail and kicks fly as plates fall to the floor in a glorious display of shattering porcelain. What this track doesn’t offer in subtlety, it makes up for in cacophony, throwing sharp drums, tacky synths, and loads of quick samples into the mix at once. If you’ve ever wanted to hear the sound of shamelessness, here it is.

What do you think?
