Tommy Four Seven is a German electronica producer hailing from Berlin, and the dude knows a dark sound when he hears one. The tracks on his debut full-length, Primate, are backed with repetitive dance beats, but what’s happening over the beats is an entirely different story. On both “G” and “Track 5,” noisy and dissonant textures are being cycled over and over. Sure, they’re slightly altered as the music progresses, but that still doesn’t change the fact that I feel I’m locked in a padded room while listening to this, bouncing off the walls and screaming to be let out.
