On Times New Viking’s latest album, Dancer Equired, the band steps out from behind the veil of lo-fi, and comes together with an actual studio recording. Of course, the clarity that brings to this album is only relative. It’s definitely easier to parse the instruments on this album, but the sound is still pretty rough around the edges–you know, in an enjoyable way.
Maybe some of the tunes here aren’t as catchy as others, but I think I’m having an issue with the overall attitude of this record. Does this record care? Should it? I’m not sure.
