Here, we have a new track dropping from the forthcoming Nachtmystium album, Silencing Machine. I actually dig it lot more than the first, which had some pretty furious, relentless, mechanical drums on it. This new track, “Borrowed Hope and Broken Dreams,” moves at a much more moderate pace, but manages to find ways to feel uglier and more abrasive. With some twisted lyrics and dark chord progressions, the song is a legitimate black metal ballad. I’m digging the keyboard hidden away behind it all, too. It’s a melancholy metal tune, and it’s definitely got me excited to hear more from this forthcoming album, which is set for release in July via Century Media.
