It’s the second track to drop from Washed Out’s forthcoming album, Within and Without. Admittedly, I’m digging this one a lot more than the first. To me, “Eyes Be Closed” seemed to tread a lot of the same water the Life of Leisure EP did. Though I love the sounds on that release, I’m not sure if I’m interested in hearing them relived all over again.
“Amor Fati” plays with a lot of the same nostalgic elements, but hits harder and doesn’t drown itself out in too much atmosphere. It’s a nice, solid piece of synth pop with plenty of highs and lows.
Look for this album on Sub Pop on July 12th.
