Humanz has its share of strong performances and musical highlights, but all too often its guests are misplaced or poorly utilized and the songwriting/production just isn’t up to the Gorillaz standard.

Shabazz Palaces have announced another cosmic concept album titled Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star and shared the lead single ‘Shine a Light,” featuring fellow Seattle rapper Thaddillac. The full project drops July 15 via Sup Pop.
With latest single “Panic,” Forest Swords continues to refine his mysterious and woodsy style of ambient dub and offers an equally mysterious and woodsy set of visuals. The track appears on his new LP Compassion, out May 5 via Ninja Tune. Also wanna note his 45 minute remix of Björk’
More so than on the previous teaser track, The Mountain Goats live up to the title of their forthcoming album Goths here on the opener “Rain in Soho.” This song actually finds the band on some gothic, post-punky shit and it should set the tone for the album quite nicely.
Ready to follow up their awesome self-titled debut, industrial gospel outfit Algiers have unleashed the title track of their sophomore effort The Underside of Power. Peep the ecstatically dark and rebellious video for it above and look forward to the album dropping June 23 via Matador!
Melbourne’s Smith Street Band have a lot going for them with their emo-tinged pop punk sound and passionate frontman Wil Wagner, but are let down by some familiar production, basic song structures, and cringeworthy lyrics on their latest album.
17 years after his landmark album Pop, ambient music producer Wolfgang Voigt has finally given us the night to that album’s day… and I really wish he didn’t.
