Canadian indie rock veterans Metric have announced their new album, Romanticize The Dive, due out April 24th via Thirty Tigers.
With the announcement, the band shared lead single “Victim Of Luck”. Watch the video for it below:
The single explores Emily Haines's reflection of the band's career up to this point. Of the song, she shares:
“The song ‘Victim Of Luck’ and really the entire album is about the romance of a less than perfect life. It’s about dropping the mask of self-consciousness and vanity. It was a long journey for me to get out of my own way and I wanted this song to be a rallying cry for that, better late than never. You can be as much a victim of good luck as bad. So when we started out yes we were broke and we were playing to ten people and there was nothing for us to fall back on but we refused to give up, and it’s not as though we’re all superstar billionaires now, but that was never what we were after. It turns out the grind is the thing you wouldn’t trade and the bonds you made can’t be faked. What we wanted is what we have and we’re not victims of anything. We dedicated our lives to each other and it’s the best feeling in the world.”
Metric, along with fellow Toronto bands Broken Social Scene (who also announced an album today) and Stars, have also announced a summer North American tour. A celebration of lifelong friendship and creative communion amongst the Toronto legends, the tour kicks off in Austin at the Moody Theatre on June 8th and ends with a homecoming at RBC Amphitheatre in Toronto on August 7th.
Tickets will be available starting Wednesday, February 4 at 12pm local time with artist presales and a Citi presale. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday, February 6 at 10am local time at LiveNation.com. See the full list of dates below.
