Top 5 Singer-Songwriter Albums of 2025

It's Anthony Fantano, and here are my top five singer-songwriter records of 2025.

First off, at Number Five, we have the new Bon Iver, Sable Fable. The vocals are beautiful. The songs are absolutely hitting and are moving, too.

At Number Four, we are going with Hannah Francis's Nested in Tangles. What a beautiful indie folk record with epic instrumentation that at points is helped along by Daniel Rosson of Grizzly Bear fame and some very great weary vocals as she dives into these themes around dramatic familial relationships.

At Number Three, I want to shout out the new Quadeca record, Vanisher, Horizon Scraper. Not only is it a holistic listen, but it's got a lot of great highlights, too, that have been just sticking with me throughout the year, like "Monday".

Following this, at Number Two, I want to shout out the new Annahstasia record, Tether. With no debate, one of the boldest voices you can put your ears to in 2025, I promise you. Definitely bringing big Noni, James Blake, Tracy Chapman energy. If you could imagine all of those sounds and voices coming together in a way.

And then finally, at Number One, I'm actually going to go with Tyler Childers' Snipe Hunter, which many may see as a weird pick given that it's a country record as opposed to just more of a traditional indie folk or just a singer-songwriter album. But not only are the songs great, but Tyler's vocal performances on this thing are killer. And a lot of the themes around spirituality and even Hinduism on the back end of the album tie the record up very nicely.
