Hey, everyone. It's Anthony Fantano, and these are my top five rap records of 2025. Let's do it.
At Number Five, I'm going with Navy Blue, The Sword & the Soaring, with some of his best verses to date, and instrumentals that, honestly, track to track, are just so entrancing.
At Number Four, we are going with Little Simz, Lotus. I really love how Simz essentially told her story about the difficulties and struggles of making music after this betrayal, which is discussed on some key tracks here.
At Number Three, we are going with Backxwash, Only Dust Remains. Backxwash showing incredible personal growth on this record, really reckoning with a lot of the darkness and the trauma that informed many of her much darker, heavier, louder albums in the past.
After this, we are going with at Number Two, McKinley Dixon with Magic Alive! with Amped Live instrumentation with a lot of amazing chemistry throughout the record. And of course, McKinley Dixon's rap skills are sharp and as refined as ever.
And then finally at Number One, maybe not a surprise to all of you, but that is going to be Clipse, Let God Sort 'Em Out. Malice and Pusha T come back together like they never left, honestly, with a mind-blowing production from Pharrell.
That is my list. I appreciate you guys watching. Thank you very much.
