Are you listening to less swears in your music?

According to a new study that is being covered in NME you are. Because in the top 40 there are currently less big hits right now that have expletives in them.

Now, this could be due to a couple of different factors.

For one, there seems to be more oldies in the top 40 than there have been in a long time, probably due in part to the Michael Jackson catalog getting kicked back up the charts thanks to the new movie.

There has been a lot more pop and country on the charts these days, as opposed to hip hop, when you compare the hottest songs any given week to 10 years ago.

I don't know if there are any other factors at play here beyond those two elements, but I would love to hear more thoughts from you guys.
