Lizzo addresses flopping

So I've talked about the Khia Asylum a couple of times. How do you feel about seeing when people describe what you're doing as like flopping or being in the Kia Asylum?
- Zachary Hourihane
To name it after this extremely phenomenal pillar in the Black community and in Black rap music. And then it's this weapon that targets only women and a lot of Black women. Let's be real. So I think it's a little strange, but one thing about it, I think it's just funny for people and I think it should remain funny. It should remain a meme because now it's evolved to where it's this thing where it's like even the most successful, somebody could be the most successful artist last year and now they're back in the Kia Asylum.
- Lizzo

Okay, Lizzo is talking about being in the Khia Asylum, and I've said it before, I'll say it again – I don't think Lizzo is actually in there for real. She has loads of popular older tracks that are still doing very well commercially.

It's just that as her career has continued, it has borne out that she is more of a hits-based artist, a singles-based artist, and she just didn't really have a hit in the lead-up to this new album, not a bona fide one that sort of transcended culture and musical taste in the way past hits have.

Combine that with these teaser tracks, engaging in sounds and narratives that might not have been the right move for Lizzo during her career right now.

Plus, I will also add that the Kia Asylum these days, the way that term is used, I don't think it's just jokes and fun and games, given how cruel I've seen people be with those words in Lizzo's replies and comments themselves.

What do you think?
